With over 10 years in the ethical fashion industry, Saheli Women has built a global reputation for empowering artisan communities and championing sustainable, inclusive business practices.Drawing from this experience, this 6-week course is designed to guide aspiring fashion entrepreneurs through the essential steps of building an ethical fashion brand. An approach rooted in sustainability, cultural preservation, and female empowerment.

We are committed to a responsible and ethical fashion supply chain that values people and the planet above profits. We believe in a sustainable and ethical working environment for our artisans, sustainable livelihoods and a sustainable relationship with Mother Earth.

We uphold principles of inclusion, diversity and ecological and social responsibility in all of our practices from start to finish of the production cycle.

  • Our artisans receive a fair wage that is at least 50% higher compared to the average income for undertaking similar work in India. Our working days are also shorter - usually around 6 or 7 hours, whereas other garment workers elsewhere in India and Bangladesh can often have a day that exceeds 12 hours. Of course, fair wages and hours are only one aspect of our focus — we also strive to remove barriers that limit women's access to employment by providing skills development training, assistance with transportation to and from work, health insurance, on-site childcare support, flexible working options, and freedom to manage individual working hours/holidays. At Saheli Women, we consciously create a safe and welcoming work environment that is free from gender, religious, and caste discrimination.

  • We are committed to the following fair trade principles, that are derived from the Ethical Fashion Initiative's Code of Conduct:

  • Our Saheli Women centers are designed to feel like home. They are joyous spaces where women socialise, brew chai, cook, bring their children, and celebrate life and Indian festivals. We regularly open our doors to our wider community for cultural festivals and holidays. We also host workshops on a broad range of topics such as human rights, feminism, menstrual hygiene, health, and financial literacy.

    Since founding Saheli Women in 2015, we have been adhering to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) across different facets.
